Top 55 Lean-Body Foods For The Holidays

By Dan Robey, author of Power of Positive Habits

Did you know that there are many foods that actually help you develop a trim and fit
body during the Holiday Season?

This is also a great way to start off 2010.

You will love this article by Mike Geary an Author, Certified Nutrition Specialist and friend of mine.

In many of my previous articles, I like to provide a healthy snack or meal recipe that not only is delicious and healthy, but also helps to get you closer to that hard-body
appearance that everyone is looking for, while also more importantly, improving your health for life.

In this article, I'd like to give you healthy food ideas in a
different way. This time,I figured I'd just give you some ideas of what I stock my fridge and cabinets with.

Remember, if you don't have junk around the house, you're less likely to eat junk. If all you have is healthy food around the house, you're forced to make smart choices. Basically, it all starts with making smart choices and avoiding temptations when you
make your grocery store trip. Now these are just some of my personal preferences, but perhaps they will give you some good ideas that you'll enjoy.

Alright, so let's start with the fridge.

Each week, I try to make sure I'm loaded up with lots of varieties of fresh vegetables.During the growing season, I only get local produce, but obviously in winter, I have to resort to the produce at the grocery store.

Most of the time, I make sure I have plenty of vegetables like onions, zucchini, spinach, fresh mushrooms, red peppers, broccoli, etc. to use in my morning eggs. I also like to dice up some lean chicken or turkey sausage into the eggs, along with some swiss, jack, or goat cheeses (preferably raw grass-fed cheeses when I can find them).

By the way I'm talking about whole eggs, NOT egg whites. Always remember that the yolk is the most nutritious and nutrient dense part of the egg, so only eating egg whites is like throwing away the best part... and no, it's NOT bad for you because of the cholesterol... eggs actually raise your GOOD cholesterol. Try to get free range organic eggs for the best quality.

Coconut milk is another staple in my fridge. I like to use it to mix in with smoothies, oatmeal, or yogurt for a rich, creamy taste.

Not only does coconut milk add a rich, creamy taste to lots of dishes, but it's also full of healthy saturated fats. Yeah, you heard me...I said healthy saturated fats! Healthy saturated fats like medium chain triglycerides, specifically an MCT called lauric
acid. If the idea of healthy saturated fats is foreign to you, check out my healthy fats article.

Back to the fridge, some other staples:

* Chopped walnuts, pecans, almonds - delicious and great sources of healthy fats.

* Cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, and yogurt - I like to mix cottage or ricotta cheese and yogurt together with chopped nuts and berries for a great mid-morning or mid-
afternoon meal.

* Whole flax seeds or chia seeds - I grind these in a mini coffee grinder and add to yogurt or salads. Always grind them fresh because the omega-3 polyunsaturated fats
are highly unstable and prone to oxidation, creating high levels of free radicals in
pre-ground flax.

* Whole eggs - one of natures richest sources of nutrients (and remember, they increase your GOOD cholesterol so stop fearing them).

* Salsa - I try to get creative and try some of the exotic varieties of salsas.

* Avocados - love them...plus a great source of healthy fats, fiber, and other nutrients. Try adding them to wraps, salads, or sandwiches.

* Butter - don't believe the naysayers; butter adds great flavor to anything and can be part of a healthy diet (just keep the quantity small because it is calorie dense...and NEVER use margarine, unless you want to assure yourself a heart attack).

* Nut butters - Plain old peanut butter has gotten a little old for me, so I get creative and mix together almond butter with sesame seed butter, or even cashew butter with macadamia butter...delicious and unbeatable nutrition!

* Leaf lettuce and spinach along with shredded carrots - for salads with dinner.

* Home-made salad dressing - using balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, and Udo's Choice oil blend. This is much better than store bought salad dressing which mostly use highly refined soybean oil (full of inflammation-causing free radicals).

* Whole grain wraps and whole grain bread (look for wraps and bread with at least 3-4 grams of fiber per 20 grams of total carbs).

* Rice bran and wheat germ - these may sound way too healthy for some, but they actually add a nice little nutty, crunchy taste to yogurt or smoothies, or can be added when baking muffins or breads to add nutrients and fiber.

Some of the staples in the freezer:

* Frozen berries - during the local growing season, I only get fresh berries, but during the other 10 months of the year, I always keep a supply of frozen blueberries,
raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, cherries, etc. to add to high fiber cereal, oatmeal, cottage cheese, yogurt, or smoothies

* Frozen fish - I like to try a couple different kinds of fish each week. There are so many varieties out there, you never have to get bored.

* Frozen chicken breasts - very convenient for a quick addition to wraps or chicken sandwiches for quick meals.
* Grass-fed steaks, burgers, and ground beef - Grassfed meats have been shown to have as high as, or even higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids than salmon (without the mercury). Also, grass-fed meats have much higher levels of conjugated linoleic acid
(CLA) compared to typical grain-fed beef. I recently found an excellent on-line store where I buy all of my grass-fed meats now (they even deliver right to your door in a sealed cooler) - http://www.healthygrassfed.2ya.com/

* Frozen buffalo, ostrich, venison, and other "exotic" lean meats - Yeah, I know...I'm weird, but I can tell you that these are some of the healthiest meats around, and if you're serious about a lean healthy body, these types of meats are much better for you than the mass produced, hormone-pumped beef and pork that's sold at most grocery stores.

* Frozen veggies - again, when the growing season is over and I can no longer get local fresh produce, frozen veggies are the best option, since they often have higher nutrient contents compared to the fresh produce that has been shipped thousands of miles, sitting around for weeks before making it to your dinner table.

Alright, now the staples in my cabinets:

* Various antioxidant rich teas - green, oolong, white, rooibos are some of the best.

* Whole wheat or whole grain spelt pasta - much higher fiber than normal pastas

* Oat bran and steel cut oats - higher fiber than those little packs of instant oats.

* Cans of coconut milk - to be transferred to a container in the fridge after opening.

* Brown rice and other higher fiber rice - NEVER white rice

* Tomato sauces - delicious, and as I'm sure you've heard a million times, they are a great source of lycopene. Just watch out for the brands that are loaded with nasty
high fructose corn syrup.

* Stevia - a natural non-caloric sweetener, which is an excellent alternative to the nasty chemical-laden artificial sweeteners like aspartame, saccharine, and sucralose.

* Raw honey - better than processed honey... higher quantities of beneficial nutrients and enzymes. Honey has even been proven in studies to improve glucose metabolism (how you process carbs). I use a teaspoon or so every morning in my teas. Yes, it is pure sugar, but at least it has some nutritional benefits... and let's be real, a teaspoon of healthier raw honey is only 5 grams of carbs... certainly nothing to worry about.

* Organic maple syrup - none of that high fructose corn syrup Aunt Jemima crap...only real maple syrup can be considered real food. The only time I really use this (because of the high sugar load) is added to my post-workout smoothies to sweeten things up and also elicit an insulin surge to push nutrients into your
muscles.

* Organic unsweetened cocoa powder - I like to mix this into my smoothies for an extra jolt of antioxidants or make my own low-sugar hot cocoa by mixing cocoa powder into hot milk with stevia and a couple melted dark chocolate chunks.

* Cans of black or kidney beans - I like to add a couple scoops to my Mexican wraps for the fiber and high nutrition content. Also, beans are surprisingly one of the best sources of youth promoting antioxidants!

* Dark chocolate (as dark as possible) - This is one of my treats that satisfies my sweet tooth, plus provides loads of antioxidants at the same time. It's still calorie dense, so I keep it to just a couple squares; but that is enough to do the trick, so I don't feel like I need to go out and get cake and ice cream to satisfy my dessert urges.

Lastly, another thing that's hard to go wrong with is a good variety of fresh fruits and berries. The staples such as bananas, apples, oranges, pears, peaches are good, but I like to also be a little more adventurous and include things like yellow (aka -
mexican or champagne) mangoes, pomegranates, kumquats, papaya, star
fruit, pineapples, and others. Also, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and cherries are some of the most nutrient and antioxidant-dense fruits
you can eat.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this special look into my favorite lean body meals and how I stock my cabinets and fridge. Your tastes are probably quite different than mine, but hopefully this gave you some good ideas you can use next time you're at the grocery store looking to stock up a healthy and delicious pile of groceries.

Be sure to pick up a copy of Mike's book The Truth about Six Pack Abs, which introduces you to the entire comprehensive training and nutritional program that will turn your body into a lean, sexy specimen that others will envy!

NASA and Spirulina

NASA have done a lot of researches on spirulina and have proved to make spirulina as the best form of food for astronauts because of its ingredients. Full literature review is attached. If you don't have time look at the abstract and final two pages of the literature.
WHAT IS SPIRULINA ?

Spirulina is a blue-green algae which is believed to be the first form of plant life on earth (nearly 3.5 billion years old).

Since its rediscovery in the 1960's, Spirulina has been exhaustively and extensively tested by scientists around the world. And has proved to be the most powerful and well-balanced source of nutrition on the planet.

Tests done by NASA found spirulina to be an excellent, compact space food for astronauts (1 kg. of Spirulina is equivalent to 1000 kgs. of assorted vegetables).

International health organizations have hailed Spirulina as one of the "Greatest Superfoods on Earth".

An ideal food supplement, Spirulina provides the body with all the essential nutrients required daily, leaving you fresh, active and energetic through out the day.
Some Nutritional Benefits of Spirulina100 times more Vitamin A than carrots!
Spirulina is the world's richest natural source of Beta-Carotene (Pro Vitamin A), which helps to improve eye sight.
6 times more protein than eggs!
Spirulina has a very high natural protein content (upto 70%). This protein is a called complete since it has 18 of the 22 amino acids that the body needs and being organic in form, has very high digestibility (up to 97%). This ensures proper utilization & assimilation of the food a person eats.

50 times more Iron than Spinach!

Anaemia or iron deficiency is one of the most common health problems of our country. Spirulina's rich content of natural Iron & folic acid helps not only to greatly improve haemoglobin levels in the blood, but being organic, is 60 times more absorbable than synthetic iron present in most of the haematinics.

7 times more Calcium than milk!

Spirulina is one of the World's richest known sources of natural Calcium which helps build strong bones.

10 times more Potassium than most vegetables!

Spirulina's potassium content (up to 10 times more than common vegetables) helps prevent hypertension.

One stop shop for Anti Oxidants!

Unstable molecules called "Free Radicals" are generated in every human body as a result of normal metabolic processes. These have been linked to ailments like cancer, arthritis, cataracts, strokes, heart attacks, diabetes and premature ageing. To combat these free radicals you need 'Anti-Oxidants' like Vitamins A,C & E, Zinc, Selenium, Super Oxide Dismutase. Spirulina is the world's richest and only natural source of all these Anti-Oxidants.

Good Source of Gamma Linolenic Acid

Fat deposits in blood vessels called cholesterol are the reason behind a majority of heart problems. Spirulina has Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA), which dissolves these fat deposits, thus preventing heart problems. Spirulina is the only known vegetarian source of Vitamin B12 which helps fight stress and calm your nerves.

Immune System

Unique 'Biliproteins' & 'Carotenoids' in Spirulina strengthen the body's immune system against possible infections.

Research suggests when Spirulina is taken with anti-cancer drugs, antibiotics and pain killing drugs, toxic side effects to the kidney can be significantly reduced and shorter recovery times may be possible.

What Enzymes Do To Your Everyday Life?

Research perennially shows that diseases are triggered by accumulated free radicals in the body that contribute to its degeneration and decline in proper function. Through time, stress, environmental pollution, chemicals and even environmental issues play a role in the body's inability to process enzymes needed to lead a normal life. Minimized or lack of enzymes in the body at all would provide serious damage in health.

Good health starts in proper digestion. But to achieve healthy digestion, a good amount of enzymes is required for the body to allow for breathing, swallowing, drinking, eating and digesting nutrients. Enzymes are protein molecules, either manufactured by plant, animal or man himself, that can facilitate these. It can also assist in all chemical reactions of the body, including regeneration of the cells and improvement of the immune system.

According to Dr. Edward Howell, pioneer of Enzyme Therapy, enzymes are much needed by bodily processes. Without it, neither do vitamins, minerals, and hormones nor other activity at all would take place. "Enzymes are substances that make life possible," Dr. Howell says.

Enzymes are organic catalysts responsible for numerous biochemical reactions in the body. They are mostly in charge in digesting food, transporting of nutrients, delivering hormones, purifying the blood, balancing cholesterol levels, nourishing the brain, building protein into the muscle, and carrying away toxic wastes from the body. Also, enzymes have a hand in slowing down the aging process by improving the body's total grasp of its functions. When the body is working properly, it should maintain helpful results in combating certain diseases.

There are three main categories of enzymes:
1) Digestive - in which enzymes are secreted by the salivary glands, stomach, pancreas, and the small intestine to help break down food into simple parts;

2) Metabolic - in which enzymes are produced in the cells and found throughout the organs, in the bones, the blood, and inside the cells themselves; and

3) Food - wherein enzymes are naturally occuring in fresh and unprocessed foods such as fruits, eggs, dairy and meat.

Studies have identified more than 3,000 types of enzymes in the body, with each working for a specific purpose. Digestive enzymes, for example, convert food into smaller components so that the body can absorb it easily. Some enzymes help break down protein for rebuilding and maintaining lean muscle tissues, regulating brain chemistry, and improving the immune system. These specific roles help paint a general picture of a well-balanced body. The secret, of course, is keeping a healthy digestion through active enzyme activity.

But as the body is exposed to poor diet, digestive stress, illness, and trauma while continuously working up its enzymes time and time again, its number would eventually diminish. Less enzyme activity could mean a decline in metabolic processes and in turn, the body would be prone to long-term health damage. Like a dull knife sharpened every morning, a well-balanced body must maintain renewed enzyme activity at all times. This is why the body must veer into replenished enzymes through supplementation.

YOUR AGE BY THE DXN PRODUCTS MATH

Don't tell me your age, you'd probably will lie anyway.

But this will show you how consuming DXN products can tell your age THIS YEAR (2009) !!!

Step 1: Answer this question:
“How many times in a week you are consuming DXN products?” (Your answer should be 1 to 9)

Step 2: Multiply the result by TWO to make it more believable.

Anyway, you are a wise consumer of DXN products, right?

Step 3: Add FIVE to the result from Step 2.

Step 4: Multiply the result of Step 3 by FIFTY.

Step 5: From the result of Step 4, add 1,759 IF you already had your birthday this year (2009).
IF NOT YET, add 1,758 only.

Step 6: Subtract your four digit birth year from the Step 5 result.

*** You should now have a three-digit answer ***

The last 2 digits on the RIGHT is your AGE (Yes! Surprised?).

While the digit on the LEFT is your answer on Step 1.

If you think this is cool, share it to ALL your DXN partners and friends…

WHAT IS CORDYCEPS?

Chinese Cordyceps (cordyceps sinensis) can be ascribed both to flora and to fauna. It dwells in China on the high-mountain Tsinuzan, 3500-4200 m above the sea level. Cordyceps is a two-unified organism - a plant and an insect. The two forms of Cordyceps existence were described in an ancient Chinese book "A new compilation
of pharmacology" (1757). But the history of Cordyceps application in China as means of strengthening health and preventive measure against diseases has over 1200 years.

During winter Cordyceps lives under ground in the form of a cocoon which has germs-hairs-future organs of vegetable existence. With the coming of spring the hairs shoot out and Cordyceps starts its existence completely like a plant. In summer ascospore shoots itself out of the filial cyst. There grows a spore (or ascogoniade) which settles on a butterfly larva and starts its existence as a parasite. The infected larva buries itself in earth. In winter the spore turns into a bacterium and ruins little by little the internal organs of the larva but the horn capsule remains unaffected. Underground the Cordyceps larva winters not less than 2 years. It bears long starvation, permanent oxygen deficiency. It feeds on high mountain plant rhizomes including Plygonum, Astragalus and Ophiopogon. Its body is rich in specific biological components.

Thanks to its diverse structure Cordyceps in its literal meaning carries out cell "repairs", being a preventive and rehabilitation factor of the human body. It is tasty, easily assimilated, has no side effects and has no contra-indications.

Rehabilitation and preventive properties of Cordyceps

- restores kidney function, has a marked effect at kidney insufficiency, chronical kidney diseases, uremia and urino-genital system on the whole;

- is recommended under defects and diseases of the hemogenic system, e.g. at low hematochrome and lack of thrombocytes and leucocytes including radio-therapy and chemo-therapy with cancer patients;

- at cardiovascular system diseases: arrhythmia, heart diseases, atherosclerosis, thrombosis, high level of triglycerides;

- at insomnia, nervous exhaustion and chronical tiredness, at stresses;

- for prevention of premature aging;

- on acute and chronic hepatitis and tumors of various origin;

- is necessary for removal toxins and a number of radio-active substances thanks to its ability of stimulating kidney and liver function;

- for prevention of diseases of respiratory system: bronchitis, pneumonia, asthma, tuberculosis;

- at diseases of brain, sclerosis of brain vessels, non malignant tumors of the brain;

- at hypertension, hypotension, some variety of anemia (an the background of low activity of hemogenic system);

- at metabolic diseases including diabetes and pancreatitis;

- at decrease of the body resistance to diseases: frequent diseases of the respiratory system and of the mouth cavity;

- at various fermental deficiency including allergy;

- exercises influence on endocrine glands and improves metabolism.

Cordyceps is used to strengthen the body and mind at a fundamental level. It is said to be able to increase the "primary motive force for life activities." Cordyceps is one of the primary herbal substances used in tonic herbalism as an anti-aging agent and for the purposes of rejuvenation.

Cordyceps replenishes Yin and Yang Jing, restoring the deep energy expended as a result of excessive exertion, adapting to stress or from aging. It is also a very powerful lung tonic, increasing respiratory capacity and efficiency. And, like other tonic mushrooms, Cordyceps is one of the most potent immune modulating agents known to mankind.

Who Can Use This Formula?

Because it contains both Yin and Yang it can be used by anyone safely and over a long period of time. A powerful and proven athlete's herb. Cordyceps is highly regarded in China as a tonic for those who are recovering from an illness or an operation, or after giving birth. In these cases, the Cordyceps helps the patient recover their physical power, to improve their appetite, and to protect the body from infection.

Typical Usage
2 or 3 tablets, 2 or 3 times per day

Note:
Cordyceps is very widely used for the purposes of strengthening the primal Kidney functions, which include sexual functions, brain power, structural integrity and healing ability. It is a potent Yin Jing tonic, but it is also a very powerful Yang tonic.

As a sexual tonic, Cordyceps is considered to be one of the best. It is not as quick acting as the best of the Yang tonics like Deer Antler, Epimedium and Sea Dragon, but it has a profound long range strengthening capacity. It is commonly used for impotence, sexual neurasthenia, frigidity and infertility.

Consistent use of Cordyceps helps to strengthen the physical structure, and specifically benefits the lower back region, the knees and ankles. It is used for backache due to injury, fatigue, stress or simple aging.

Cordyceps is also a major Lung tonic. It can be used to strengthen respiratory power in those who require extra energy in order to perform physical work (e.g. labor, sports or exercise) or it can be used by those who suffer from deficiency of Lung power. It is especially beneficial to those who suffer chronic Lung weakness with cough, wheezing or shortness of breath.

Cordyceps has always been used to fortify the defensive system of the body and large amounts of recent data indicate that Cordyceps is a very potent immune system potentiator. Researchers in Japan and China have isolated a number of polysaccharides in Cordyceps which strengthen the immune system, and at least one, CO-1, has been shown to have strong anti-tumor activity. Maintaining the immune system is one of the mechanisms that can slow down aging and prevent both degenerative and acquired diseases.

Other studies have shown that Cordyceps can have a benefit in the vascular system as well. Cordyceps improves the function of the micro-circulation and improves efficiency at the capillary level. Cordyceps has been shown to help regulate blood pressure and to strengthen heart muscle.Cordyceps is one of the absolute superstars of the Chinese tonic herbal system. It is an extremely effective and powerful life enhancing agent, ranking right up there with Ginseng, Ganoderma and Deer Antler. Because it is rare, potent and highly treasured, like Deer Antler, it is very expensive. It is the main ingredient in a number of expensive elixirs and tonic formulations.

Many studies now indicate that Cordyceps can help the body resist a wide range of pathogenic bacteria, fungi and viruses. Cordyceps is used in Asia to help treat fungus and yeast infections, and intensive research is being conducted at dozens of institutions in China and Japan relating to the potential of Cordyceps to treat cancer and HIV infection.

Cordyceps is considered in Asia to be a robust and virtually miraculous athlete’s tonic. Cordyceps has attained even greater fame in the last few years since the quintessentially successful track coach, Ma Jia Jun, created a secret formula, based on Cordyceps and Tortoise Shell, which he gave to his China National Women’s track team. Subsequent to their taking this formula, which was made with Cordyceps as the dominant ingredient, the women of this team came to dominate the world track scene for more than two years. The members of the team broke many world records, most of which they still hold.During their reign, they were accused of taking steroids or other illegal drugs, since their rise to dominance was so quick. But all drug testing proved negative. No trace of any illegal substances has been detected in their blood.

None of Ma’s track women were ever found to be consuming anything other than his secret Chinese tonic herbal formula. Due to a number of reasons, mostly associated with personality conflicts between Ma and his track stars (he refused to let them grow their hair, to keep much of their prize money or to keep the luxury cars they won as prizes on the world track circuit, for example), virtually all the women refused to stay in Ma’s camp and they all went independent.

No longer having access to his secret Cordyceps recipe, all of the stars have lost their dominating athlete prowess. In 1995, a year after leaving Ma, only one of the former superstars qualified for the National Team which represented China at the World Championships.Ma’s recipe is still secret (though we know it), although the whole world knows of its existence. We only know that the two dominant ingredients are Cordyceps and Tortoise Shell, a major Yin Jing tonic.
Cordyceps is highly regarded in China as a tonic for those who are recovering from an illness or an operation, or after giving birth. In these cases, the Cordyceps helps the patient recover their physical power, to improve their appetite, and to protect the body from infection. When blended with other tonics such as Ginseng, Ganoderma, Lycium or Astragalus, Cordyceps’ power is just increased as the synergy of the various herbs results in an even more powerful tonic.

Production

In the last several years, it has become possible to grow a number of fungi by "fermentation" technology. The fungus is literally grown in large tanks, and in just a matter of days a large quantity can be produced. The technology has now become highly advanced and is making previously rare herbs like Cordyceps and Ganoderma much more accessible. Many studies indicate that the chemical nature of this biotechnology Cordyceps is almost identical to that of the wild variety and pharmacological and clinical studies seem to confirm this. The new biotechnological approach to growing Cordyceps possesses two truly great advantages. The greatest advantage of the new technology is that the herbal substance, in this case Cordyceps, can be highly controlled by scientific means during its growth and "standardized" so that every batch is virtually identical---and in a sense, "perfect." This is very important in pharmaceutical terms because without standardization, it is difficult or impossible to develop drug-type standards for substances like Cordyceps. Once an herb can be standardized, all kinds of studies can be conducted that will be accepted by the scientific community, including our FDA.Fermentation technology makes this substance available to anybody who wants it, and this is great news for the world.

Until now, few people have even heard of Cordyceps because of its rarity. In the next decade, as a result of the new fermentation technology, Cordyceps will become known throughout the world.

There is one more advantage, at least by some people’s standard, to the new fermentation Cordyceps. The fungus is grown without the use of animal nutrients and the result is a 100% pure "vegetarian" health product.

Cordyceps is another quality product of DXN International.

WHAT IS PH LEVEL?

PH Level......what the heck is a PH level?

I am sure that is what most people will say when they read this blog.

Your PH level is the Acid/Alkaline level of your body and it is EXTREMELY important.

Let me ask you a question.

Have you ever seen an ad on television foran anti-acid product like Tums, Priolsec,Pepcid AC or Zantac 75?

I bet you answered YES!

Let me ask you another question.

Have you ever seen an ad on television telling you to check your PH levels?

I bet you have not!

Why?

Because, drug companies make billions selling you these products.

Did you know that almost all acid problems are caused by an acid/alkaline imbalance in your system?

Did you know that you may be able to throw away all those pills if you simply balance your PH?

Did you know that MANY diseases have their root cause in an acid imbalance?

If your body is too acidic you may well suffer from constant indigestion, heartburn, fatigue and many other symptoms.

How can you check your PH levels and correct them if your body is too acidic?

PH urine test strips are available at most health food stores and drug stores.

Make it a habit to check your PH levels at least once per month.

Your PH should be 7.3 to 7.4 which is ideal.

If your body check out to be too acidic do the following:

1. Add more fruit to your diet such as Watermelon, Mango,Papaya, Grapefruit, Limes.

2. Add more vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, and garlic.

3. Squeeze lemon in your drinking water.

Stay away from:

1. White flour

2. Pork

3. Beef

4. Shell fish

5. Cheese

6. Ice cream

We have been using DXN products since 2004 to stay healthier, feel and look good.

What is PSORIASIS?

(The information shared below was a reply on psoriasis by a DXN product expert on how DXN's food supplement products may help the problem in a natural way.)

PSORIASIS is an immune-mediated disease. This means the condition is caused by faulty signals in the body’s immune system.

It is believed that psoriasis develops when the immune system tells the body to over-react and accelerate the growth of skin cells. Normally, skin cells mature and are shed from the skin’s surface every 28 to 30 days. But in the case of psoriatic cell, it takes only about 8 days. Thus causing scaly patches spread to cover larger and larger area.

As psoriasis is related to immune system, a healthy diet and a positive mental outlook is essential for a strong immune system. Stressful condition and nervous tension tend to worsen the psoriatic condition.

Please find below some of the recommendations to share with a psoriasis patient.

1. Get plenty of dietary fiber for maintaining a healthy colon. The build up of toxins in the colon may interrupt the normal immune responses.

MycoVeggie is an excellent choice of fiber. Kindly take half hour before breakfast and lunch.

One scoop of fiber powder mix well in 250 ml of luke warm water and drink immediately once prepare.

2. Include plenty of fruits, grains, vegetables and deep sea fish in daily meal.

3. Avoid fried food, processed food and saturated fats (found in red meat and dairy product).

4. Consume DXN Spirulina tablet daily as a good source of essential fatty acids, chlorophyll and beta carotene.

These nutrients are crucial for a healthy immune system. Can start with 3 tablets per day and can increase gradually up to 20 tablets.

5. Consume DXN Lion's Mane tablet daily for promoting a healthy digestive system and nervous system. Can start with 3 tablets per day and can increase gradually up to 20 tablets.

Ways To Strengthen The Immune System

Inside your body there is a mechanism designed to defend you from millions of bacteria, microbes, viruses, toxins and parasites.

Strengthen the immune system which protects your body by warding off attacks from diseases and viruses.

Antioxidants found in foods make a strong contribution to this fight.

The immune system protects the body by helping it to ward-off and recover from various diseases.

While stress reduction and regular exercise are known to assist in strengthening the immune system, the types of food consumed make the largest contribution to a healthy immune system.

Eating a well-balanced diet including a variety of healthful foods will boost this system's effectiveness like nothing else.

The chief destructive force that the immune system has to contend with is free radicals. Free radicals damage healthy cells by causing cell alterations (mutations) which can lead to serious illnesses such as heart disease and cancer.

However, certain substances present in food can destroy free radicals. These substances are called antioxidants.

One of the strongest antioxidants is vitamin C, which boosts the immune system to aggressively react on cancer cells.

Diets high in this nutrient are linked to reduced risks for stomach, breast, colorectal and prostate cancers. Good sources of vitamin C are citrus fruits, green peppers, cantaloupes and broccoli

Those who use tobacco products should eat even more foods containing vitamin C or take supplements since smoking deplete vitamin C reserves quicker than others.

Another important antioxidant is vitamin E. This nutrient helps to slow down the symptoms of aging and strengthen body cells that fight infection.

People who eat foods rich in vitamin E or take supplements have an added weapon against bacteria and viruses. Vitamin E also helps in the fight against heart disease and cancer. Good food sources of are whole grain foods and vegetable oils. Supplements are recommended to reach the daily requirement of this vitamin.

Check with your doctor on the dose.

Carotenoids are antioxidants that help to strengthen the immune system by producing lymphocytes. Lymphocytes are cells important to fighting infection. The best sources for carotenoids are the red, yellow and orange fruits and vegetables such as carrots, tomatoes, cantaloupes, pumpkin, etc. and leafy green foods. The four important carotenoids are beta-carotene, lycopene, lutein and zeaxanthin. All of these provide excellent protection against disease.

The immune system gains strength from minerals to synthesize proteins which make up all the cells of the body. Important minerals include: ---zinc, which increases the number of lymphocytes to fight cancers. Dietary sources of zinc are whole grains and cooked oysters ---iron, which fights infection and strengthens overall immunity.

However, too much iron can be harmful and a physician should be consulted before starting a program of using iron supplements. Meats, dried beans and tofu are good sources of iron. ---selenium, which helps to increase the number of antibodies and encourages growth of immune cells. This mineral can cause damage if too much is ingested so supplements are not recommended. Food sources are fish, grains and nuts.

A low fat diet is very important for a strong immune system. Excess fat hampers the ability of the body to fight off bacteria and free radicals. Lowering fat in the diet can be accomplished by limiting the intake of fatty foods and making low fat and low calorie meal substitutions.

What is this so called the "King of Herbs" or "Miracle Mushroom"?

For over 4000 years Reishi mushrooms (Ganoderma Lucidum) have been recognized by Chinese medical professionals as a valuable remedy.

Its Chinese name Lingzhi, means "spiritual potency". Reishi mushrooms are regarded by the Chinese as the "Medicine of Kings". Dr. Shi-Jean Lee, the most famous Chinese medical doctor of the Ming Dynasty, strongly endorsed the effectiveness of Reishi in his famous book, Ban Chao Gang Moo ("Great Pharmacopoeia"). He stated that the "long-term taking of Reishi (Lingzhi)
will build a strong, healthy body & assure a long life."

Ganoderma Lucidum contains high concentration of Organic Germanium, Polysaccharides and Triterpenes. These active components are proven to strengthen our immunity cells and improve our immune system.

As the "King of Herbs", Reishi is widely used for different purposes. It is used for symptomatic relief of arthritis and of menopausal anxiety. It is also used in treating allergic asthma, hypertension, hypothyroidism, bronchitis, insomnia, general anxiety and stress, and cardiovascular problems. Reishi also is often the main ingredient in herbal formulas for immune dysfunction syndromes, such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Since Reishi is natural, it doesn't carry side effects, over dose and under dose. It also can be used by anyone from a small child to older persons regardless of age.

Kiwi Fruit Benefits

Kiwi fruit is the most nutrient-rich of the top 26 fruits consumed in the world today. It also has the highest density of any fruit for vitamin C and magnesiumóa limited mineral in the food supply of most affluent countries and a nutrient important for cardiovascular health. Among the top three low-sodium, high-potassium fruits, kiwifruit ranks number one, having more potassium than a banana or citrus fruits.

Based on the data published in the international scientific literature and the U.S. Food and Drug Administrationís approved legal definition of a good (>10% of the daily value (DV)) or excellent (>20% of the DV) source, kiwifruit may be classified as an excellent source of vitamin C as well as dietary fiber. By the FDA's definition, kiwifruit would also be a good source of vitamin E and potassium. Kiwifruit is low fat and contains no cholesterol.

Unlike other fruits, kiwifruit has an unusually broad complement of nutrients. Most fruits tend to be high in only one or two nutrients, but kiwifruit delivers 8% DV of folic acid, 8% DV of copper, 8% DV of pantothenic acid, 6% DV of calcium and magnesium, 4% DV of iron and vitamin B6, 2% DV of phosphorus and trace amounts of vitamin A (beta carotene) and other vitamins and minerals.
Cancer
Kiwifruit has been shown to contain an antimutagenic component, helping to prevent the mutations of genes that may initiate the cancer process. The presence of glutathione may account for the reduction.

· Carcinogenic nitrates are formed during the smoking or barbecuing of foods. When nitrates are ingested, a process called nitrosation can occur, in which free radicalsónitrosaminesóare formed that may lead to the formation of gastric or other cancers. Kiwi has been demonstrated to aid in the prevention of nitrosation.

· In another in vitro test with cultured mammalian-cell lines, kiwifruit extract was found to inhibit melanoma, or skin cancer.

· The amino acid arginine, present in kiwifruit, is being looked at by cardiologists to improve postangioplasty blood flow and actually prevent the formation (or reformation) of plaque in the arteries.

· Kiwifruit is ranked as having the fourth highest natural antioxidant potentialónext to the red fruits containing high levels of beta carotene.

· Lutein, an important phytochemical found in kiwifruit, has been linked to the prevention of prostate and lung cancer.

· In addition to kiwifruit being recognized by the FDA as an excellent source of dietary fiber, studies indicate that it contains another not-yet-isolated compound that accelerates digestive transit time even faster than dietary fiber aloneóimportant for colorectal cancer prevention. The benefit of this laxative action is to decrease the build-up of cancer-promoting metabolites.

· Kiwifruit is one of the few fruits that are green at maturity, and chlorophyll is responsible for that color. Several studies have suggested that chlorophyllin, a derivative of chlorophyll, is an inhibitor of liver carcinogenesis.
Depression· Inositol is found in kiwifruit. Recent studies have shown that inositol, because of its function as a precursor of an intracellular second messenger system, can be beneficial in the treatment of depression.
Diabetes
· Inositol, a sugar alcohol naturally occurring in kiwifruit, may play a positive role in regulating diabetes. Inositol supplements may improve nerve conduction velocity in diabetic neuropathy.

· Inositol plays a role in intracellular responses to hormones and neurotransmitters. It acts as a second messenger in cell signaling processes.
Eye Health/Macular Degeneration
· Fourteen million American adults needlessly suffer from macular degeneration. Kiwifruit is rich in phytochemicalsóxanthophylls and especially a subcomponent, lutein. Lutein is known to accumulate in the retina of the eye. Recent USDA studies have linked these important compounds to the prevention of macular degenerationóthe leading cause of irreversible blindness in the U.S.

· Kiwi fruit contains a wealth of carotenoids (beta carotenes, luteins and xanthophylls); phenolic compounds (flavonoids and anthocyanins) and antioxidants, including vitamins C and E. The excellent complement of antioxidants in kiwifruit may help prevent the oxidation of the good cholesterol (HDLs).

· Kiwifruit is particularly high in two amino acids: arginine and glutamate. Arginine may help promote an increase in arteriolar dilation, working as a vasodilator and improving blood flowóimportant for heart health.

· The FDA considers kiwifruit a good source of vitamin E, crucial for a healthy heart.

· Kiwi fruit contains magnesium at 6% DV. Magnesium is thought to be in short supply in the diets of affluent countries. Poor magnesium status is associated with heart disease, myocardial infarction and hypertension.

· Kiwi fruit contains pectin, which has been shown to lower cholesterol.
Hypertension
Cardiologists believe the sodium-to-potassium ratio is critical for heart health. That ratio is extremely favorable in kiwifruit.
Immunity
· Kiwifruit has been shown to be an immune boosterómost likely due to its extremely high vitamin C content and its complement of antioxidant compounds.
Impotence
· Kiwi fruit contains the amino acid arginine, a well-known vasodilator that has been used to treat impotence in men.
Physical Fitness
· Kiwifruit contains a wide range of minerals (electrolytes) essential for replenishing those lost during exerciseóespecially in hot environments. It is also a naturally significant source of electrolytes for a preworkout regimen.

· In China, a kiwi-based sport drink was designed to overcome athletic training in a hot environment, where large amounts of minerals can be lost in sweat. A 5% addition of carbohydrates to the kiwifruit juice helped to maintain a normal glucose level during exhaustive training. The sports drink was tested on Chinaís elite soccer and track teams and in a more controlled experiment on amateur athletes. The results? Subjects were able to ride a Monark ergometer longer, hematocrit increased significantly after exercise, the drink maintained blood glucose at normal levels when training lasted more than 2.5 hours without affecting insulin levels and vitamin C status of the athletes improved as measured by urinary output. Best of all, athletes said it was fragrant, tasty, refreshing and thirst quenching. It appeared to have no negative side effects (Di et al, 1990).
Stress Reduction
· Kiwifruit contains a relatively high level of serotonin. Serotonin causes a calming effect in most individuals.

Weight Control

· Calorie for calorie, kiwifruit is one of the most nutrient-rich fruits. You get the best balance of nutrients per calorie (the most nutrients for the fewest calories) from kiwifruit, cantaloupe, papaya and lemons.

Michael Jackson Died of Heart Attack At Age 50

(Michael Jackson - In his early days…)

Regardless of whether you like Michael or not as a person, we cannot deny that he has touched millions of people all around the world.

If you think an actor has done a good job entertaining people, then Michael would be #1.

And whether you know or not, Michael’s movement like “Heal The World” concept has created awareness of saving our planet and humanity– because he has so many fans, they’re willing to hear Michael’s message. Lastly, I believe Michael has helped to raise fund for many non-profit and charity organizations all around the world.

Now, not everyone likes Michael Jackson and that’s understandable.

Today, when Michael left us - many of us suddenly remembered him. And I believe (I could be wrong), even those who ridicule him will stop.

His music will be ‘alive’ again.

BUT WHY WAIT TILL SOMEONE DIES TO BE APPRECIATED?

If you want to treat someone well, treat him/her now.
If you want to stop ridiculing someone, stop it now.
If you want to stop being angry with someone, stop it now.
If you want to appreciate something, appreciate it now before it’s gone.
If you want to make someone happy, do it now.
Heck, if you want to make yourself happy, DO IT NOW.

Even if nobody dies, time passes so fast and within a blink of an eye, everything changes. I know, it’s scary so don’t take things for granted. I’m not just telling you, I’m telling myself because I’ve been taking things for granted too.

Michael Jackson, rest in peace. You have my respect for your talent, contributions and your heart to ‘heal the world’.

Five Keys to Healthy Eating

Since nutrition seems to create the biggest challenge for most of my clients, I developed what I call the Five Keys to Healthy Eating.

The keys are summarized here:

1. Enjoy what you eat— surprised? You shouldn’t be. You acquired a taste for coffee or beer, so why not healthy foods and beverages such as what we have in DXN products? Stop going on a diet, and change the way you eat.

2. Believe in what you are doing— you know what the weak words are, like “try” and “hope.” If you “hope this is going to work” then it won’t. Find a product, program, or method that you believe in.

We’ve all had a sense of knowing that something would come to pass. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find that balance in life that gives you the same sense of peace and knowing.

3. Practice moderation— the best advice about healthy living was penned by Hippocrates around 400 B.C. He said, “If we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little and not too much, we would have found the safest way to health.” Stop going on extreme diets and being either “on” or “off.” Find that “sweet spot” in the middle.

4. Be flexible with new ideas— diets come and go. So do fitness trends. Sometimes the idea that seems strange is the one you’ve been waiting for.

Just because one style of eating helped you lose weight the first time doesn’t mean it’s what your body needs for continued health. Try out new ideas and find the ones that fit.

5. Learn to hear your body— most people are used to eating junk. Even though the body knows this food is not good, you simply tune out the “noise.” By getting back in touch with your body and instincts, you can learn how to eat because the answer is right inside you.

If you really learn how to listen, your body will share with you how much protein you need, how many vegetables and pieces of fruit to eat in a day and whether you’re getting enough fluid.

What Is Network Marketing?

If you've been looking for a home-based business, you have undoubtedly come upon business opportunities that are referred to as Network Marketing programs. Also known as Multi-Level Marketing or MLM, Network Marketing is just a way for businesses to distribute their products.
Rather than using the customary distribution process that moves from manufacturer to warehouse to wholesaler to retailer to end customer, Network Marketing companies use a network of independent marketers to move the products directly from the manufacturer to the end customer.

The independent marketers earn a percentage of the profit on all sales they make. While it's possible and highly recommended to earn an income by selling to customers directly, the real power of Network Marketing is that you are allowed to build a down line of other independent marketers below you, and earn a percentage of their combined sales.

Think about it!

You may be a great salesman and have a few dozen good customers. You make your percentage from all their purchases.

Great!

But wouldn't it be better if you had a down line of 10, 100, 1000, or even 10,000 other people also making sales and you earning a percentage of all those sales? Of course it would.

There is limited amount of time any one person can spend working.

By having a down line working with you, you can multiply that time.

Imagine having a down line of 1000 people each putting in only an hour a day five days a week. In one month 20,000 hours of work would be done.

It would take one person 10 years to produce the same amount of work.

Now you can see how it's possible that successful Network Marketers can make huge monthly incomes.

If you're ready to get started building your own Network Marketing business get back to the person who introduced you to DXN International and he will be more than happy to assist you.

So what is it? People Business?

It’s a business about helping people, making it the fairest form of business today network marketing!

Really there are two different opportunities that call themselves Network Marketing. There are the Network Marketing / Multi-Level Companies and direct sales companies.

These companies are best described as a non-traditional form of business, so what’s the difference. In a traditional business you have lots of overhead, employees, health insurance for your employees, office rent the list goes on and on. Non-traditional businesses are usually worked from home.

This eliminates the high overhead of the traditional business. You also get to set your work schedule.

Let's compare the two.

Network marketing / Multi-level marketing (MLM)

They usually offer reasonably priced products and services that people consume in a short time.

Generally the commission structure is less up-front then the direct sales companies, but it has a benefit that most direct sales companies do not have and that is residual income.

- It costs less to get involved with this form of business, a few hundred dollars.

- Allowing more people to become involved.

- Residual Income.

Network marketing is about sales and distribution, but a different kind of sales. It’s more of a soft sale or recommendation then the hard closing type that you’re accustomed to with the typical salesman or saleswoman in the direct sales.

Direct Sales Companies

These companies are known as seller-based, they market higher priced, usually one time sales items. The benefits of these programs are you make higher commissions but they have very little if any residual income. Essentially if you stop working so does your income.

You are paid directly on what you personally sell, so you have to sell lots and lots of merchandise. This also limits you to the type of people you can bring into your business as the “salesperson” type. Direct sales cost more to get involved with usually in the thousands of dollar range, again limiting you on the number of people!

How do Network Marketing Work ?

Network marketing is a business model whose time has come. It is literally the finest example of the free enterprise system. One in which common people can invest a small sum of money and through sheer tenacity in determination rise to staggering levels of financial reward and personal freedom. Just like your employer leverages your time, through network marketing you can leverage the time of others.

What does this mean?

Each of you is doing a small amount gathering customers and starting new people into your business. You are looking at a business model that will take 3 to 5 years to produce the kind of results you’re looking for.

So don’t give up your day job just yet. It will require 5 to 20 hours of work a week become successfully in Network Marketing. This is not a get rich quick overnight program, never has and never will be.

Network marketing is based on word of mouth advertising which is the best form of advertising. Think about it when you go out and watch a great movie you go out and tell people about it. When discount programme shop moved to your area, you joined their buying programme and started telling everyone how much you saved.

Major advertising agencies and companies count on this. This is one of the things that we do as network marketers. The major difference is that we get paid for our word of mouth advertising.

One of the most often asked questions is will I have to sell products and services?

The answer is of course yes. Think about it no one likes to have a salesman or woman come to the door and sell them products right. We all hate to go to the car dealers, where you are swarmed with 5 different sales people all trying to get you to buy from them right!

So how are we different?

We just recommend products and services that we like and personally use. If we know it’s good and personally use it, recommending it to our friends and family is very easy.

Products and Services

The most successful people in network marketing love their products. It is much easier to soft sell a product when you really do use and enjoy the product. So you have to have well to great things to say about your products and services.

You must be a product of your product. Think about this if you own X brand of gas station would you drive across the street to by at Y brand? Of course not!

Does it have a Duplicative Business System?

This is vitally important but is missing in a lot of network marketing companies. Do they leave it up to you? Look for a company and a team that has a system in place that you can use day one in your network marketing business.

Management

Good management is a must in this business, what is their experience. They train and train the people, think about this for a minute how many times in the past year have you heard of a new start up opportunity?

We get them every other day it seems like! Most if not all of these companies are started with management that has little to no experience in network marketing.

These companies contribute to the high failure rate in this business.

"If I had to do it all over again, rather than build an old style type of business, I would have started building a network marketing business."

Quote by Robert T. Kiyosaki “ Rich Dad Poor Dad”

Robert Kiyosaki explains that building a network marketing business....... is a revolutionary way to achieve wealth.

... makes it possible for anyone to acquire great wealth.
... is open to anyone who has the drive, determination and perseverance.

Is Ganoderma a drug or a healthy food ?

Is Ganoderma a drug or a healthy food?

This is the question, which rattles health authorities in Europe, who see the need of reinventing the wheel.

Since the US, Canada and Australia, not to mention the majority of Asian countries, acknowledged most herbal ingredients of the TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) to be healthy food (superfood), Europe evaluates and re-evaluates the entire package, if it might not be possible to classify them as doctor's drugs.

The fact that they promote health is good enough to make them a doctor's affair, and everybody assumes that the modern western medicine-man's task is to deal with diseases, rather to prevent them.

The major setup of western medicine is focussed on treating illness, segmental intervention (when it is too late often), a human repair shop with lots of efforts to escape the "point of no return".

The old medicine emphasizes prevention ("one ounce of prevention is better than one pound of cure").

The best doctor is our body, because it knows much better what it needs. We just have to provide all ingredients via a healthy nutrition and our body (normally) does the rest to stay afloat.

But we have to be sure that our food is healthy! Modern times bring modern ways of nourishing oneself, far away from providing our system with what it needs. Lack of vitamins, fibers etc. dominates the tables and Fastfood Rules...

In this scenario Ganoderma gains importance as a health booster and protector.

Since Ganoderma is healthy food, and healthy food is medicine and vice versa (Hippocrates), it has an impact on all body functions which are responsible for maintaining a good health, the immune system on top of this list.

In case of illness, Ganoderma strengthens body functions and helps the body to cure itself.

It provides major tools for the body to regenerate itself and shift back to a healthy status. This is done in different steps, as follows:

A. Scanning (1 - 30 days):

1. Diseases are caused by imbalance of body function
2. Ganoderma can help to regulate body function
3. From the reaction to the intake of Ganoderma, we can identify the
ailing area, which is known as the scanning effect

B. Cleansing or Detoxification (1 - 30 weeks):

1. Uric acid, excess cholesterol, fat deposit, calcium deposit, bad tissue
and chemical accumulation and other toxins are removed.
2. They are removed by:

a) Sweating b) The circulatory system - (kidney and liver) through urination and stool c) Boil, rashes, phlegm and mucus discharge

C. Regulating (1 - 12 months):

1. Balancing effect to regulate body functions
2. Many effects can be observed during regulations. This is a sign that
the body is healing itself. If the reaction is too vigorous, reduce the
dosage

D. Building (6 - 24 months):

1. Processing of building and healing of body parts that have sustained
injuries or damages
2. Strengthening of the immune system, physical strength and mental
calmness, more resistance to diseases
3. Supply of essential elements to the body, such as minerals and
triterpenoids for the recovery of body functions

E. Regenerating (1 - 3 years):

1. This is the ultimate aim to consume Ganoderma
2. It is the process whereby our body is functioning at its optimum level
which is actually a rejuvenating effect (restore youthful appearance,
strength and peace of mind)

Nevertheless modern pharmacology analyzes Ganoderma and its components and found some of them extremely effective in the treatment of various deseases, concentrated polysaccharides, triterpenes, acids etc highly purified.

But this has to be considered as a different approach, an obvious attempt to convert a healthy food into a drug through isolation and purification of its components.

The purification process creates a substance of extreme concentration which has poisonous potentials and so the former harmless Ganoderma becomes a killer-drug, very effective yet dangerous ("Everything is poisonous, it depends only on its concentration", Louis Pasteur).

Under "normal" circumstances Ganoderma helps to maintain health and improves body functions of patients with a variety of diseases through immune boosting/modificating capabilities.

The amount of its "ingredients" is high enough to be effective and low enough, not to provoke side effects, normally known from medicaments.

Since it contains more than 200 bio-active substances it can claim a wide array of health promoting and preventive effects against medical indications, normally a "cannot-be" in western medicine.
